| Nikon's motto, as someone said, is "Want to use a
new lens? First buy a new camera." The superb 70-200 "G" lens will not even work on
extremely popular AF cameras like the F90x, and on
any manual camera since there's no aperture ring.
The much extolled, and newer F80 will not meter
with manual lenses. So much for fabled Nikon
compatibility. Now Nikon has two lines, AF and MF, which will
probably soon be totally incompatible like Canon
and Minolta. And don't give me this crap about
being able to mount "any Nikkor on any Nikon
camera". Hell, I can mount a FD lens or a Nikkor
on an EOS with adapters, but functionality is
still crippled. Nikon is the only company which has to publish a
300 page booklet on what lens will work with what
camera. |
| OK guys and other types of shooters, understand
that when Nikon says anything about backwards
compatibility, it means that all older lenses
will fit on a new body, no exception made. Up to
date, I haven't seen a manual 1960's lens that
won't fit. Now if you really want AF-S, VR, etc. and you're
ready to pay for it, well I don't think a new
camera that will make it work is gonna cost that
much to you. AND you will also be able to use
your older lenses on it. I also read the stupidest comment ever: my
f80/n80 won't meter with my older lens. and I
have news for you my friend, it's won't AF
either, but if you get a reader and half a sense
of logic, you're gonna take the best pictures
ever. Don't you just miss the good old days when the
photographer used to take the picture instead of
all the electronic gizmos we have these days ? Thanx for reading, and as I always say: "ever
tried to run photoshop 6 on an apple II ???" |
