This
web site suggests that Canon is soon to release
a 500mm f/2.8 DO IS USM and 200-400 f/4 DO IS USM.
These are quite amazing developments, especially the
500/f2.8 the likes of which has never been seen
before.

DO's

| Let's assume Daniel is not pulling everyone's leg
again. On a 1D with approx 1.3 x focal length we
get:
500 = 650
200-400 = 260-520
Given that the DO lenses are possibly a tad less
sharp than the bigger non DO Super Tele's, for
Digital, it may not be so important with a
4Million pixel count, which would never resolve
the capabilities of the non DO top lenses.
I Guess these new lenses will be attractive to
sports and news crews to save weight and still get
the final out put they need, or more to the
point, get shots they could not before! If this is
the main aim of Canon, then we could say DO is the
'Digital Optic' :-)
It will be a real shame for those shooters that
needed lighter optics with pro quality at an
affordable price if this DO stuff stays at the
current price point, only the 'electronic new
gatherers' will afford it.
PS, Canon if you feel like giving the development
EF 400 F4 non DO away, I will happily take that
heavy thing of your hands:-)
