Next move for Leica, Medium Format???
Leica Posted by Bernard on 2002-03-01 10:54:24.03437+11
from the Washington Post / Leica CEO dept.
Given the recent press release regarding the M7, which was really expected after the CEO's comments are here. We may expect a Medium Format Camera in the works, which may even be an SLR! Possibly a MF Rangfinder or even both types. Sounds like a man on a mission :- )

Sigma SD9 D-SLR: Foveon X3 sensor
Sigma Posted by Bernard on 2002-02-23 16:14:59.835878+11
from the Sigma / dpreview.com dept.
Pre-PMA 2002: Sigma's new SD9 D-SLR will be the first digital camera to utilize Foveon's recently announced X3 sensor technology. This new camera has a 3.43 megapixel (effective) X3 sensor which outputs 2268 x 1512 x 3 pixels. Each pixel is 9 microns which makes the sensor 20.7 x 13.8 mm (a 1.7x focal length multiplier). The SD9 has a Sigma lens mount and a unique dust protector just behind the lens mount to stop dust from attaching itself to the sensor. Price is expected to be around US$3,000. Full Story here.

Rumor of Nikon 28-200 F2.8 VR?
Nikon Posted by Walter Bibikow on 2002-02-19 22:57:59.046015+11
from the New Stuff dept.
In an article in the March 2002 issue of US magazine Popular Photography, there are several mentions about a new Nikon lens: 28-200 F2.8 VR. Very little is said about the lens except for its ample size. Unless, Mr. Keppler was smoking wacky tobaccy this is a true milestone with great range, great speed (F2.8) and VR (Vibration control. Any comments?

Flash photography with Canon EOS article
Canon Posted by NK Guy on 2002-01-18 23:32:13.094292+11
from the dept.
Flash photography with Canon EOS article published online. There has long been a dearth of useful information on flash photography with EOS gear. So I've decided to try and rectify that a little by writing up a treatise on the subject.

I believe it's the most comprehensive discussion of the topic available online, and hopefully will be of interest and value to many people, including users of other camera systems.

This web site suggests that Canon is soon to release a 500mm f/2.8 DO IS USM and 200-400 f/4 DO IS USM. These are quite amazing developments, especially the 500/f2.8 the likes of which has never been seen before.
